Are there membership fees?
There are no membership fees.
Will I have to buy vegetables I don't want?
Unlike other co-ops, buying clubs, or CSAs where everyone gets the same box of produce (and you may not know what you're getting), with MCLG you get to order what you want, in the quantities you want, from the vendors you want.
When do I pay?
You can pay online with credit card (there's an additional 3% convenience fee) when you place your order, or in person with cash or check when you pick up your order. You will be able to pay with credit card in person soon, and we are pursuing accepting Snap/EBT.
What is the Admin fee?
We charge a percentage of vendor sales to support Miami County Locally Grown and keep it sustainable.
When and where do I pick up my order?
Customers pick up their orders on Tuesdays from 4:00pm - 6:00pm at First Place Christian Center, 16 West Franklin St. in Troy.
Why should I buy food from MCLG rather than a grocery store?
Enhance your local economy: By purchasing food from local growers, you are providing stability to your local economy through the support of local businesses.
Save natural resources: Buying locally makes you an invaluable link in the process of saving resources such as fossil fuels and packaging materials. Also, we are right here in your community so the expense of transportation and delivery is kept to a minimum.
Provide learning opportunities: MCLG supporters provide vendors with an avenue to help educate our community about the importance of sustainable agriculture.
Supporting a way of life: The number of small farms in the United States has decreased dramatically in the last decade. Please help us preserve an honest and worthy means of making a living.
We believe that small, diverse, family-owned farms contribute to society's overall health.
What if I don't pick up my order?
We will text or call you a half hour before pick-up ends, at the number listed on your customer account. We will try a final time before we leave. Any orders not picked up by 6:00pm will be donated to the FOOD PANTRY unless the items can be frozen or otherwise stored at the discretion of the manager. If we're able to make contact with you by phone, we may be able to work out an arrangement.
You are responsible for paying for the items you ordered. The growers harvested your order and we paid the growers on your behalf when they brought your products to the pick-up location. We'll charge your account for items that we can't resell, and that amount will be added to your next order.
We do understand that unforeseeable circumstances may arise, but please let us know of any problems with picking your order up during the pick-up window by contacting (937) 524-6413 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
What if my check bounces?
We charge a $25 fee for any checks that we are unable to deposit due to insufficient funds. We will also place a hold on your account until you are able to repay both your initial order amount and the $25 fee.
How can I sell my products through MCLG?
Read about the unique nature of MCLG throughout our website. We are a grower's only market - no reselling whatsoever.
All vendors must live and operate within a 30 mile radius of our pick-up location, 16 W. Franklin Street in downtown Troy.
We ask all potential vendors to shop MCLG prior to being considered as a new vendor. It's helpful to experience our market from the customer standpoint.
The market manager will schedule a site visit to the operation of each vendor prior to their approval on the market.
Acceptance as a vendor with MCLG is neither guaranteed nor immediate. It is critical for the success of all vendors that we maintain a balanced selection of products. Just as at a traditional farmers market, you do get to set your own prices and list your items as you choose with pictures and descriptions, but we do have base prices for some popular items. While pricing may be competitive, please be considerate of our other vendors with similar products.
10-20% of vendor sales are retained to support our operating expenses and keep MCLG sustainable.
Vendors commit to bringing customer orders during our drop-off window of 1:00pm - 3:00pm on Tuesdays.
Vendors commit to a minimum of 12 volunteer hours annually to help the market - typically this means helping on two pick-up Tuesdays from 1:30-6:30pm.
First step? Contact the market manager at email@example.com if you are interested in becoming a vendor with MCLG. Please provide your business information and an inventory list of what you'd be interested in selling with us, and include a brief overview of your business.
